ARE YOU CRYSTAL CLEAR ON YOUR GOALS?

I had a meeting with a long-term client of mine, Rob Ashley from PWC, recently and as we were chatting about business in general, Rob shared with me this quote …

WHEN THE GOAL IS CLEAR, THE MECHANISM APPEARS.

It is similar to my quote …  “When the WHY becomes clear the HOW becomes easy.”

It is clarity that gives each of us a great chance of achieving what we really want rather than a vague version of what we sort of want. Clarity is the element that gives each of us greater certainty, and with certainty comes confidence.

The universe has a funny way of providing us the opportunities to achieve our goals when we have clarity. So what type of clarity am I talking about? Using the smallest of detail, exact descriptions and very specific outcomes. Let me give you an example: what normally happens is someone wants a new job, so here is their goal … I want a new job. This goal is vague, with no clarity or specific details. It has no date or deadline and it is not stated in the past tense of the goal already being achieved.

Here is how I would make this more specific … It is the 4th August, 2015 and I am a Senior Sales Executive being paid $150,000 plus bonuses of up to $50,000 in the telecommunications industry working with a dynamic group of people, for a business leader who provides great constructive feedback and wonderful opportunities for me to grow as a person and industry professional.

So look at your three key goals and ask yourself are they crystal clear, do you really know what you want? The test is, if you wrote out your goals and gave it to someone to read without you having to explain it, would that person know exactly what you wanted to achieve? If the answer is NO, then your goals are too vague!
