Remember where you’re from.

As each of us pursue our goals and dreams we discover who we really are, and we discover the quality of our character and our level of tenacity. That is why it is important to set the goal, then go on that journey towards it not just with intention but with action, allowing life’s circumstances to deal us the cards that we need to experience in that journey.

Then we reflect and recognise the progress we have made as we pursue that goal, remembering where we have come from, where we are going and the person we are becoming. As you pursue your passion, it will bring out the best in you, it will test your character and form a spirit that will be the foundation for the next goal you desire to achieve.

What a great word for all your day to day endeavours. What if you were fearless? What could you achieve? I have just completed a photography course in New York with the National Geographic and I had an amazing experience exploring the Big Apple with a camera in hand. (I will post some of these photos soon, for those that are interested).

One of our instructors on the first day asked us to practice fearlessness for the length of the program – as we approached our photographic assignments, the way we took photos, and how we looked at our subjects. It was great advice and, in reflection as I head home, it is great advice for all of us as we look to achieve our our goals.

What could you achieve if you were fearless? If you practiced fearlessness today what could you achieve? How different would your life be? With fearlessness comes greater certainty and who would like more certainty in their life?!

For many people they want to take a series of big actions that speed up the process of achieving the goal. Now this is one way to achieve the goal, however for most of us we need to take a series of invisible actions.

Actions that no one will notice, sometimes not even you. When you think of it we are always taking invisible actions, the direct question is, “Are they getting you closer to your goal?”

The challenge with invisible actions is they are so small that in isolation they just don’t count, but joined to together they are impactful.

It is like a drop of water – no big deal, it does not hurt anyone, it does not make a difference, and cannot quench a thirst, so what is its real value? However, join enough drops of water together and they can fill a dam, turn a crop from disappointing to dynamic and over time break the biggest boulder in half.

Turn your invisible actions into tangible results!

So what could be worse than procrastination? Perendinating. If procrastination is putting off the task until tomorrow, perendinating is to put it off until the day after tomorrow. This could be the ultimate definition of giving up totally. If procrastination steals self esteem, then I believe perendinating steals hope.

When you have no hope, the ability to dream of what is possible becomes non-existent. So replace procrastinating and perendinating with being proactive. Pick something you are procrastinating about and forget about completing the task in total, just pick one action you can do in the next 3 minutes to start it. Whether that be making a call, confirming an appointment, scheduling some planning time, or sending an email to reconnect with someone.

Stop reading and get started. You have 3 minutes and your time starts NOW!

We want the goal now! We want the problem to be solved now! Unfortunately sometimes we have to go through the process of waiting for time to provide the way forward.

That being the case we just need to relax into the moment. Let the answer, solution or goal come to us. Rather than seeking endlessly, we sometimes need to sit patiently and allow it to come to us. Stay open to happy accidents, it is about leaving space in your life for things to come into your life.

Not easy if you are a “Make it happen” type of person. It does not mean do nothing, think about when the situation is resolved and take action that both your head and heart is telling you to take. The key is to be relaxed, knowing that the answer will appear when the circumstances are right for you.

Now if you have followed this BLOG for sometime, you will know that one of my mantras is … Love what you do and do what you love. Well a third of young Australians think this is true also.

A survey released by the CPA Australia and conducted by the research company CoreData asked 1000 people aged 18 – 30, what was the most important factor for their careers in the next 10 years? 32% per cent said a passion for the job, 31.6% chose work-life balance and 17.4% picked a good pay.

I don’t know if this just relates to this age group, but I do know in my heart of hearts that life can be a drag if you are not doing something in your life that your passionate about whether that is your career or your personal pursuits. Life is too short to live without pursuing your passion!

Each of us has the ability to be as enthusiastic as we desire. It is always a choice. However I do know that we can self sabotage ourselves and create dramas, circumstances or even situations that drain our enthusiasm.

What stops you from being the best you can be, that is in your control? Be specific, don’t just say … myself! The more specific you are the more you can create strategies to avoid, minimise or remove what is stopping you. If you can plug the holes you can become the real you, the one busting to come out.

Life is a game of playing smart, making smart choices and being smart with who and what you let near your mind!

Have you ever wanted to be a Super Hero? Able to have the strength, the courage and tenacity to do anything, achieve anything? I did as a kid and I think I still do today as well.

All of us need to work towards finding that person that exists inside us, that is invincible and in that I mean we try and try again. We have the courage to face our fears and to have a crack at the impossible from time to time, even if we know it cannot be done.

Every time we test our invincibility muscle, I am not sure where it is located but I bet it is attached to our mindset, we do become stronger, more daring and better equipped for our futures. If you were invincible what would you try?

“IF ONLY …”

How many times have you used them this week or month? They reek with regret, don’t they? They are sometimes used as a form of wishing. However, as you and I know wishing for a goal or change of fortune does not actually bring about anything different.

What we need to do is change “If Only” to “What Now? A question rather than a hopeless statement is the only solution to turn around a set of circumstances and propel you towards your goals, desired situation.

So next time you catch yourself saying “If Only”, ask yourself “What Now?”

Usually my blogs are about achieving, dreaming and believing!

Today I would like to say a THANK YOU to you!

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to do what I love to do … Speak, Write and Create all things to do with Creating Passionate People.

When an idea gains real momentum, it starts to gain recognition. On Saturday the 31st March at the National Speakers Association Gala Dinner, I was awarded the Keynote Speaker of the Year for 2012.

So I just wanted to say THANK YOU, for your support, encouragement, feedback insights, input and for giving me the acknowledgement that the idea of Creating Passionate People is one worth channelling my energy, attention and effort into creating more momentum for this concept, topic and movement.

The award given to me by my peers was a great honour but an honour that I cannot accept fully without sharing it with you.
